Indy String Theory Electric Set Up Workshop 4/28

Spend a day in the shop learning the ins and outs of setting up your electric guitar!
This workshop will take place on Sunday, April 28th, 2024 from 10am-5 pm with a 1 hour lunch break.
Handouts Provided. Bring a pencil and notebook for taking notes.

We'll be discussing a number of common and industry terms, the correct way to identify and diagnose action problems, and what physics play a role in your instrument as a usable tool for making music. We'll also be discussing common misconceptions and the often overlooked details of adjusting a setup. You should leave this workshop with a deeper understanding of guitars and how they work in general.

More than just performing a setup, this workshop will allow you to maintenance your instruments equipped with Tune-O-Matic, hardtail (Tele style), or Traditional Tremolo style bridges the proper way, and fine tune with small adjustments with every string change.

You'll never look at a guitar the same way again. Know what you should be looking for when purchasing a new instrument, and the financial implications of possibly missing a key flaw. Learn the sometimes unfortunate truth about factory production guitars new and old, and what their limitations are. Where did the manufacturer cut corners? What's the most important part of your guitar, and what is the playing surface telling you?

Tools and Tuner provided.

Students must bring:

• Pencil/Pen and Paper
• Electric Guitar or Bass with Tune-o-matic, hardtail or traditional Trem System.
• your own lunch or allowance for lunch
