Guild D-55 1997 Westerly RI - Natural

We have a 1997 Guild D55 in the shop that has undergone several repairs and modifications. The neck has been professionally reset, significantly improving the guitar's playability. The saddle has been replaced, and an EMG AEQ3 Pickup has been installed, though it is not original to the instrument.

This guitar includes the original hardshell case and weighs in at 6.00lbs.

The binding has shrunk and cracked in several areas around the body and neck; however, it remains secure and is not separating from the guitar. As expected for an instrument of this age, it shows typical signs of use, including small nicks and dings throughout.

The most notable wear consists of three deeper dents on the back of the neck: two near the heel on the bass side and one near the middle of the neck on the treble side. These can be felt while playing but do not affect the guitar's performance or playability. The truss rod cover and its mounting screws have also been replaced.

Guild's classic dreadnought D55 was introduced in 1968 as a special order item only but response to the D55 was so strong that within a few years it was added to the line on a regular production basis.

The D55 is still the top of the production model dreadnoughts. Prized by players everywhere the D55 features the traditional Guild "G" shield logo on the large Guild headstock and the three piece mahogany neck.

The body has white multiple binding on the top and back. The back and sides are solid Indian rosewood with a triple A graded solid sitka spruce top with scalloped bracing.

The ebony bridge has abalone inlayed bridge pins.

The ebony fretboard is decorated with Guild's classic pearl and abalone inlays. The choice of artists worldwide the D55 must he seen in person to be fully appreciated.
