Product description

In the shop we have a very cool 1981 Gibson 335 S Deluxe with a B5 Bigsby and Vibro-mate! (original tailpiece included)

This guitar has seen some action over the years, showing plenty of dings, chips and scratches, pictured. Most notable is where a guitar stand had eaten through the finish around the headstock. Aesthetically not pleasing but can’t be seen by the audience or felt by the player.

Someone had drilled and then later filled a couple holes around the original coil tap switch, while that function was moved to push-pull pots on the correlating volumes.

The original “Dirty Fingers” pickups have been replaced with a generic zebra neck pickup and a cream 80s DiMarzio Super Distortion, which sounds great! The internal electronics are non-original and have been re-wired and copper shielded. Nice and clean!

A B5 Bigsby has been installed with no drilling thanks to the Vibro-Mate, while this isn’t original, we think it’s a cool appointment and are including it with the guitar. The original tailpiece is included. The Bridge appears to be original but has had the saddles swapped for graphite saddles. One other thing of note, the original factory drill spot for the treble side of the tailpiece was drilled too narrow, which made the stud pull ever so slightly. We fixed that problem and it hides well but is something of note.

Outside of the issues addressed, the guitar plays well and is a total vibe. The frets appear to be original. They could have been worked in the past but there are some small dips in the first few frets that make it seem older. It plays like a fretless wonder. The bass side nib is missing on the 1st fret, while treble side nibs have several missing.

The neck has a satin feel from being played for decades, nice a smooth, and has a
