In the shop we have the Mongrel from Wright Minds Musical Instruments!
Wright Minds Musical Instruments is an Indiana based company. Mr. Wright has an eye for excellent wood, neck shapes, pickup combinations, and relic'd finishes, making for builds that look, feel, and sound like guitars that have been around for decades!
This sweet relic'd guitar is rocking a killer combo of Seymour Duncan pickups, with a Phat Cat at the neck and STL-1 '54 at the bridge. Combined with a 4 way switch, CTS pots, and a Gotoh bridge, this Mongrel is a beast! With a maple neck, rosewood fretboard, and hipshot tuners, this bad dog does not disappoint!
Here's more on the Phat Cat and STL-1 '54 pickups from Seymour Duncan:
"The Phat Cats give you all the authentic grit and growl that you’d expect from a great vintage P90 Soapbar in the bridge position, and the authentic P90 bounce and sparkle in the neck position. Chords have bright, ringing harmonic overtones while solos have that classic P90 cut and edge. We use two Alnico 2 bar magnets to give you more sustain and a compressed attack, while the metal covers provide more shielding and noise reduction than standard soapbar covers."
"For Telecaster players seeking a straight forward approach to the bridge tone that helped define rock, blues, and country, we offer the Vintage 54 Tele Lead vintage output tele pickup. Its hand ground alnico 5 rod magnets with a raised D and G, coupled with a lower output wind, yield a bright, well defined treble response that is perfectly suited to plucky lead work and fast-moving chords from Chicago to Nashville."
