In the shop we've got an original 1972 Gibson SG Standard Cherry.
The 1972 Gibson SG Standard in Heritage Cherry, this is the first year of production for this model. The Heritage Cherry finish has faded but still holds its color under the pickguard and hardware. Featuring all original hardware, a stop tail piece being featured on an sg for the first time. Original 3 per side Grover machine heads. Small trapezoidal inlays and a 1 & 9/16's inch nut. Medium C-shaped mahogany neck is easy to play and the two Gibson "Tar Back" humbuckers are well balanced and produce the perfect classic rock and blues tones. Weighing in at 7.2lbs, this guitar is surprisingly balanced with hardly any neck dive.
This guitar is in fantastic shape but shows all the normal wear and tear you'd expect from a 50 year old instrument. Picking marks are visible on the pickguard and body under the right light. Small dings and marks are presented on the outside of the body and headstock as well as one small ding on the back of the neck. Hardware is in excellent shape and doesn't show any signs of rusting. Appears to be original frets, they are low but playable and have been maintained. Currently strung with S.I.T 9's and professionally setup. Everything has been tested and is functioning properly. Guitar comes with a vintage Gibson hard-shell case.
This guitar still has a lot of life to give, offering everything you'd hope for in a vintage instrument.
